Produced by: KENNY BEARD and BLAKE CHANCEY

LONG, SLOW KISSES (RADIO VERSION) (Jeff Bates, Gordon Bradberry, Ben Hayslip)
“We went back into the studio, because we wanted to see how it was going to be working with Blake
Chancey. The first thing Blake did is say, ‘Brother, I think I’d put a little melody into those verses.’ Well, I
was a little apprehensive to say the least. But I tried it and I liked it. In the first version, the verses are a
little bit wordier and longer, and this one’s about three or four beats a minute faster. Plus I like the
melody in the verses, because it’s got a little R&B feel to it. We wanted my fans to be able to have a copy
of it, so we included it as a bonus track.”

RUB IT IN (Layng Martine, Jr.)
“Blake Chancey called me and said, ‘Brother, I had a dream last night that you were onstage and all
these girls were screaming, and you know what you were singing? “Rub It In.”’ I said, ‘That old Billy
“Crash” Craddock song?’ He said, ‘Hell, yeah!’ Blake’s dad, Ron Chancey, recorded it on ‘Crash’
Craddock. Thirty years later, his son records it with me. We had a blast in the studio cutting it!”

NO SHAME (Jeff Bates, Kenny Beard, Jimmy Yeary)
“I believe in love. Love without fear, without guilt or shame. Love that holds nothing back, that gives all
and goes the distance.”

HANDS ON MAN
(Carson Chamberlain, Mark Lee Sanders, Michael White)
“I love doing stuff with my hands. I love to tinker. Give me something mechanical, and I can take it apart
and put it back together again. Where I grew up, we couldn’t afford to take things to the shop, so I had to
learn how to repair them. Of course, the double entendre of the song is about making love—touching a
woman’s body. But it’s also about being willing to lay hands on a relationship, too, getting in there and
making it work.”

LEAVE THE LIGHT ON
(Kenny Beard, Monty Criswell, Jimmy Yeary)
“I don’t want to make love in the dark. I want to see her. I want to see her eyes.
I want to see her loving me”

THAT’LL GET YOU TEN (Eric Church, Wade Kirby)
“We all find ourselves in those positions where we have to make a choice. We’ve got to do the right
thing or the wrong thing. Sometimes, those situations are hilarious. And with my background, I couldn’t
see not cutting that song!”

THE WOMAN HE WALKED ON (Bob DiPiero, Mitzi Dawn Jenkins, Tony Mullins)
“Mitzi Dawn Jenkins lived this song. When I heard it, it made me cry. There are more ways to suffer
abuse in a relationship than somebody hitting you- verbal abuse, emotional abuse- and they can leave
scars that take a long time to heal. Love can shorten that healing process”

ONE SECOND CHANCE (Arlis Albritton, Chris DuBois, Dave Turnbull)
“It’s about forgiveness. That song right there is probably my personal favorite on the whole CD, because
I’ve been that guy. When I went to jail, I’d stolen, I’d hurt, I’d cheated and lied to everybody. But
amazingly, not one single person withheld forgiveness when I asked for it! This song’s for anybody who
needs forgiving…or needs to do some forgiving.”

GOOD PEOPLE (Tim James, Kendall Marvel)
“It’s a lighthearted look at being nonjudgmental. I had uncles that, if you crossed them, they’d knock you
around, and then you’d go have a beer together. When the chips are down, they’ll give you the shirt off
their backs. That’s good people to me.”

I CAN’T WRITE THAT (Jeff Bates, Kenny Beard, Billy Yates)
“We were at Country Radio Seminar. Me, Kenny Beard, Billy Yates, Frank Myers, Anthony Smith, we’re all
sitting around on Friday night at about 11 o’clock, tired as hell. But as a songwriter, you’ve always got
that radar open. I hear KB tell Frank Myers, ‘Oh, hell, I can’t write that.’ I looked up at Kenny Beard and I
said, ‘Hey, that’s a song!’ And all of a sudden, it was like buzzards circling. Frank says, ‘Wait a minute!’
Just about that time his phone rang. Anthony is over here talking about something else. A smiling Billy
Yates is sitting between me and KB and he looks up and says, ‘Y’all are not writing it without me.’ Fifty
seconds later, Kenny says, ‘I’ve got the chorus.’ We didn’t have anything to record on, so Billy said, ‘Sing
it in my ear, I’ll remember it.’ Billy left and drove home singing it to himself until he got home and
recorded it. The next day, we got together and wrote it.”

WHAT I KNOW (Kenny Beard, Casey Beathard)
“We’ve all had those relationships: ‘I know it’s over and you are not coming back, and I can either
wallow in it or I can forget it and get over it.’ Sometimes the best way to get over it is just to go and live
some life and have fun, and there no better way to do that than just to go where you’re among friends.
We went to Cowboy’s in Dothan, Alabama, set up the microphones and got them to sing with me.”

MAMA WAS A LOT LIKE JESUS (Rob Crosby, Kelly Shiver, Ray Stephenson)
“She was. She is. Every good thing there is in me, I got from my mama.”
